Getting ready to file
01
Info gathering
- Through January 24, request a Personalized Organizer pre-filled with last year's information.
- Pick up a printed copy at the office, or call us for an electronic copy delivered through our secure portal — sent only to the primary email on file.
02
Submit documents
- Bring the completed profile sheet plus your tax forms — please remove everything from envelopes first.
- Place it all in one of our manila envelopes from the rack above the drop-off box, just inside our entry door.
- Have your photo ID on you when you come in.
Even if your information hasn't changed, the IRS requires the profile sheet annually. Filling it out upfront significantly speeds up your return.
Final checklist — frequently forgotten
Every item here is conditional — it only applies if the trigger fits your situation. But when it does, we cannot file your return without it. Read the blue trigger line on each card to see what applies to you.
Only what applies to you
— skip any card whose trigger doesn't fit.
New client requirements
If this is your first year filing with us
Bring a physical referral card and a copy of your prior year tax return.
Calculated totals
If you have Schedule C (business) or Schedule E (rental) income
Pre-calculate your totals before you come in. Additional fees apply for unorganized records.
Form 1095-A
If you bought health insurance through the Marketplace (Obamacare)
HealthCare.gov mails the 1095-A each January. We cannot file your federal return without it.
Identity Protection PIN
If the IRS has issued you a 6-digit IP PIN
The PIN arrives in a CP01A letter each year. Your e-file will be rejected without it.
